May 22, 2025 – The world’s largest football organization FIFA has launched its own blockchain, called FIFA Blockchain. This new system is built on a technology called Avalanche. Its purpose is to connect fans in a better way in the digital world.
Previously FIFA’s platform was on Algorand, but now it has completely shifted to Avalanche. This new blockchain is faster, transactions are cheaper, and it works easily with popular wallets like MetaMask.
On FIFA Blockchain, fans can now buy, sell digital cards (NFTs) and collect their favorite football moments – just like the old cricket cards, but now in digital form.
The new system, developed in collaboration with a company called Modex, will give FIFA the freedom to control everything according to its own wishes, such as transactions will happen very fast and the system can also be expanded later as per the need.
FIFA said: “This is a big step towards our Web3 technology. With this, we will be able to connect fans in many new ways like games, digital collections and buying tickets in the future.”
The old NFTs that were on Algorand have been automatically shifted to the new FIFA Blockchain. But now old wallets like Pera and Defly will not work. Fans will now have to use new wallets like MetaMask.
People in the Web3 world are very happy with this move and #FIFABlockchain is trending on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
FIFA will no longer be limited to just collectibles – going forward, digital tickets, fan rewards program, and more are in the plans.
Modex CEO, John Doe said: “FIFA Blockchain will give fans a completely new digital football experience. This blockchain brings together the global power of FIFA and the technology of Avalanche.”
FIFA+ Collect has already garnered millions of users, and now even more fun and gamified features are on the way with this new FIFA Blockchain.
